Standard Board Level Shielding

Plymouth, MA.... A standard two-piece board level shielding design from Tech-Etch incorporates a unique, spring-finger style attachment between fence and cover. The use of this design can be customized to almost any possible configuration, including rectangular, ‘L’ shaped, ‘V’ shaped, or even irregular shapes. Costs are reduced by using a combination of photo-chemical etching and dedicated hard tooling. A series of standard hard forming tools are used to create the unique spring finger design, and this cost is not passed on to customers. The burr-free photoetching process improves design flexibility, shortens lead times, and eliminates hard tooling costs. Prototypes are available in five days. Fences, covers and mounting pins can be designed in any configuration, as can through holes, slots and internal dividers. Depth-etch bend lines facilitate hand forming, and soldered or resistance welded seams are available. Standard board level shielding is typically etched from .007" - .020" brass, with tin plating. Custom shielding is also available with other materials, thicknesses and finishes. If desired, Tech-Etch will design board level shielding for customers based on their requirements.
